MaturityMap
Comparison · questionnaire vs fieldwork

MaturityMap and Pointerpro: a report engine is not an engagement.

Pointerpro is questionnaire-in, branded PDF-out — and they automate personalised reports well. MaturityMap is the fieldwork OS: sampling frames, a method mix frozen at close, coded interviews, documents on the same ladder. We built MaturityMap, so the bias is declared. If your product is a scored questionnaire with a personalised PDF, Pointerpro is the closer fit.

Two products

Questionnaire-to-PDF, or a mixed-method OS.

Assessment software for consultants is a real category. Pointerpro has spent years proving people will pay for it. The whole category is still, at root, a questionnaire that emits a branded report. That is a fair product. It is not the same as running an engagement.

Pointerpro — questionnaire in, PDF out

Pointerpro combines a questionnaire builder with a report builder. Consultants and in-house experts put a scored assessment in front of a respondent and generate a personalised, white-labelled PDF without a junior writing it. Distribution and dashboards sit around that core. Fair account: automating personalised reports is a craft, and they do it well.

They publish self-serve pricing and quote for report-engine and distribution tiers. We will not invent a number. If you already have the questions and the advice, and the job is to scale the PDF, that is their home ground.

MaturityMap — the fieldwork OS

MaturityMap runs Wayfinder, a six-phase methodology for a culture engagement. Fieldwork is mixed-method — seven methods plus a leadership 360 — on one maturity ladder. Sampling frames cover people, sites and documents. Interviews are coded onto the same cells as the survey. Documents are scored as a method, not attached as files. Method mix is frozen when a wave closes.

Nine models share that methodology. AI drafts in a house voice from cited evidence; a human accepts every suggestion before it reaches a report. Published pricing is on /pricing: Essential £250 a month, Professional £750 a month, each with one full engagement a year included; Enterprise is by contract.

How to choose

Match the tool to the job

Choose Pointerpro

when the engagement is a scored questionnaire and the deliverable is a personalised, branded PDF for each respondent — at speed, under your own mark. That is a good job, and they built the tool for it.

Choose MaturityMap

when the engagement needs more than one method: sampling discipline, coded interviews, observation, documents on the same ladder, a mix frozen at close, and a six-phase OS rather than a report template.

Choose neither, yet

when the board needs an accredited consultancy instrument (Denison, Human Synergistics OCI) with a practitioner debrief. Neither Pointerpro nor MaturityMap is that. Use the instrument; do not stretch a questionnaire tool or a maturity OS to impersonate one.

The honest caveat

What we will not claim

We will not claim to generate personalised PDFs faster or more beautifully than Pointerpro. Report automation is their centre; ours is mixed-method fieldwork. We will not claim our models are independently validated instruments. We will not claim a questionnaire tool is incomplete for being a questionnaire tool — it is complete for that job.

The moment an engagement needs interviews, a sampling frame for sites or documents, qualitative coding, or a locked composite at wave close, consultancies usually fall back to Office documents. That gap is where MaturityMap sits. It is not a reason to buy us for lead-gen scorecards.

The wider field — consultancy instruments, listening platforms, and where a culture management platform fits — is on culture assessment tools.

Next

See the engagement, then decide.

The fairest test is a demo of mixed-method fieldwork — sampling, coded evidence, a frozen mix — not a race to the first branded PDF. If questionnaire-to-report is the job, Pointerpro remains the right shortlist.
